Happily employed thanks to support of Jobmatch

Daniel Halime with Manager of Hungry Jacks, Brendan Ward18-year-old Daniel Halime, who is living with a learning disability, is now employed at Hungry Jacks, Parramatta after jobseeking for over 12-months.

Daniel was very excited to commence his new position on Tuesday, 2 March.

“I have been looking for work for a long time and I am very thankful to Hungry Jacks for giving me a chance,” Mr Halime said.

“I think it is harder for people with a disability to find employment because employers are not willing to spend that little extra time and effort in training,” he said.

Daniel has been supported by Northcott Disability Services specialised employment program, Jobmatch, in his quest to find paid employment.

Daniel said that the support he has received from the staff at Jobmatch has been wonderful.

“Jobmatch has really helped me to find work,” Mr Halime said.

“The staff helped me look for jobs, assisted me with my resume and even came to interviews with me,” he said.

“I plan on spending my first pay check on some new clothes and maybe a haircut,” he said.

Daniel’s case manager, Jessica Irwin, will actively train Daniel as he begins his employment with Hungry Jacks.

“Daniel has been great to work with and his attitude has changed since he began here; he seems more confident in himself,” Miss Irwin said.

“He will work hard and will be an asset to the team at Hungry Jacks,” she said.

Daniel’s long term goal is to work as a hairdresser.
